If you are a farmer or rancher committed to the ideals of sustainable Organic Agriculture buttroubled by the high fees, extensive paperwork, and agribusiness focus of the USDA's National Organic
Program, Certified Naturally Grown™ was created for you.
Certified Naturally Grown is the grassroots effort of over 500 small farms and ranchers across the US (and now thousands more internationally) to provide growers that sell locally and directly with a
low cost certification program that adheres to the strictest ideals of sustainable, organic, chemical-free
agriculture. Although Certified Naturally Grown uses the publicly available USDA National Organic Program
Standards as the basis for our growing standards, the program is NOT
affiliated in any way with the USDA National Organic Program. This means that while our growing practices are the same or stricter,
we are not legally required to follow the sameburdensome paperwork requirements specified as part of the
USDA Organic program. Certified Naturally Grown™ uses a streamlined application process,
farmer-to-farmer inspections, and un-announced pesticide residue testing (at no cost to the farmer). Because EVERY PART of each farm's certification and inspection process is transparent and available
to the public to see online, consumers TRUST it.
Most of us who grow Organically don't do so for marketing reasons. We grow this way because
we care about our families' and workers' health, the health of our friends and customers
purchasing and enjoying our food, and because we want to be good, sustainable stewards ofthe small portion of this earth that has temporarily been put under our care.

Naturally Grown ™ is only
open to (certified or non-certified) organic farmers who sell their produce regionally and directly to
customers, through farm markets, farm stands, CSAs, to restaurants, or to small local food coops and natural
food stores that focus on local producers.
Certified Naturally Grown is supported by national environmental groups, health organizations and sustainable agricultural groups including the National Cancer Awareness Coalition, the Sierra Club’s Atlantic Chapter and the International Federation of Organic Agricultural Movements (IFOAM).
